Terra LaRock, Founder

Hi Mamas! I am Terra LaRock - wife, mother, full-time blogger, and founder of The Mindful Mamas Club.

I live in Denver with my husband, Perry, and our two kids.

I was introduced to mindfulness as a therapeutic tool while obtaining my graduate degree in Child, Family, and School Psychology. For five years, I practiced in the public school sector, and spent most of my career serving a large refugee population.

After taking an intensive mindfulness course for work, my passion for this practice was ignited. The skills I learned in that class helped me become a more patient person. I became a better mother, wife, and friend. Most importantly I learned how to practice self-compassion. Ultimately this practice helped me cope with postpartum depression and gave me the awareness I need to seek professional help through counseling.

I loved mindfulness so much that the following school year, I started a whole-school initiative in which I led professional development for educators about trauma and mindfulness, as well as taught mindfulness to every single child at my school (grades preK-5th). The changes I saw in the culture of our school, the students I served, and the staff that I worked with were paramount.

While I loved my time with the students, I am following a deeper calling to make the practice of mindfulness accessible to mothers around the world. I wholeheartedly believe that this practice can enrich other lives the same way it did mine and that every mother can learn to lead a more mindful and present life full of self-compassion and gratitude.

I am so happy to have you here. It is an honor to be able to be a mentor as you learn a practice that will change your life for the better.
